Hear Me Calling

Sometimes there is a long delay between writing the music and coming up with the lyrics. Hear Me Calling took 18 months to complete–the music poured out of the piano one cold, bleak January day in 2009, but as hard as I tried, the right words just wouldn’t come. Finally, in August of 2010, I found a way to express in words what the music was already saying. It was a very hard place to be, wondering whether God was paying attention. I remember so well what it felt like to spend months and years that way. Now I know that He is always listening, and always was, even when I thought He didn’t care. I just needed to open myself up to Him…easier said than done, being the imperfect person that I am–as we all are!album art 3

Hear Me Calling (c) Tina Pumfrey, 2013

One more day of feeling low. How much longer can I go

Wondering if you are here, are you near?

Reach for me, break through the wall, heal the hurt inside my soul.

Past mistakes are haunting me, can you still love me?

You, it’s you that I need. I’m calling to you.

You, it’s you that I need. Hear me calling to you.

Touch my mind and make it free from the hurt inside of me.

Your forgiveness is what I need, what I seek.

You, it’s you that I need. I’m calling to you.

You, it’s you that I need. Hear me calling to you.

You, it’s you that I need. I’m calling to you.

You, it’s you that I need. Hear me calling to you.
