Thanks to the author of Peace, Love & Great Country Music (www.peacelovegreatcountrymusic.com) for nominating my blog for the ABC Award–Awesome Blog Content. Getting the nod gave me reason to smile (really big!) on an otherwise stress-filled day. Thank you for thinking of my little blog! I started blogging very cautiously at first, but I’ve gotten braver, a little bit at a time.
Okay… One thing about myself, using each letter of the alphabet. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? …I have a feeling some of these are going to be pretty random.
Avocadoes – I love ’em, most of my family doesn’t. More guacamole for me.
Brother – My brother gets to travel the world for his job. And I love baking (and eating) brownies, chocolate chip cookies, biscuits, muffins…
Church – Generally one of my favourite places to be. I love my cats because they never get stressed out. I could learn from that.
Dishes – I wish I liked doing dishes more, because there sure are a lot of dishes around here.
Eggs – Gathering the eggs is actually a pretty relaxing job, as long as you can keep the hens from harassing you.
Family – The rudder that keeps me steady. Flowers – My vegetable garden withers among the weeds, while my flower gardens get most of my attention.
Glasses – I can retreat from the world by taking them off, and then put them on when I’m ready to come back.
Hawaii – I was lucky enough to go there with my husband last summer. Awesome.
Ice cream – I used to love it, but it doesn’t love me anymore. Sigh. And introverted. I used to think I was pretty introverted, but since I ended up as a teacher and a singer/songwriter/performer, I guess that’s not quite as true as I thought it was.
Japanese – I learned enough to survive when I was working there, but several (ahem) years later, my most confident phrases are “Wakarimasen” (I don’t understand) and “Wasurimashita” (I forget).
Karaoke – I don’t go often, but now that I have a karaoke buddy, it’s a great excuse to go out. Our hubbies are nice enough to come along and listen to us, and everybody else, good and bad.
Laundry – Last weekend, I actually got ALL the laundry DONE! Never mind that it lasted about 5 minutes.
Music – In spite of, or maybe because of, the music in my head 24/7, I took music for granted and took a REALLY long time to recognize it as my passion.
Never – I know it’s a bad day when I start using that word.
Overachiever – I hung that hat up a few years ago, not really by choice at the time, but life is sweeter now. I don’t want to go back there.
Piano – My entry into music as a child, and still the best bridge to bring the music inside me out into the world. Half an hour at the piano can be better than Tylenol.
Quiet – Something I need a little more often.
Reading – I’d rather read seven novels than watch the eight movies based on the series. I can read for hours. And hours.
Sunsets – What better reminder that God is in charge, that He’s looking after all the things that are beyond our reach. And sisters. I have six.
Thursdays – Craziest day of the week right now, at my house. And trains. I’ve ALWAYS lived within earshot of trains, no matter what city or country it was. And Twitter… I’ve had an account for a couple of months, but I’m scared to tweet so I haven’t yet. (Any advice…?)
Universe– So big, I can’t fathom it. It hurts my head to try.
Violets – Cheery little things. And Allegheny vibernum, a nice flowering shrub in front of my house.
Wind turbines – There are eight of them outside my back door.
X… Exercise? – Okay, that was weak. Kind of like I’m going to be if I don’t get back to the gym soon.
Yarn – Once upon a time, I thought I would like to learn to knit, so I bought some funky yarn. I think I’m just going to give it to one of my sisters and save myself the trouble.
Zoo – My kids loved to visit zoos when they were younger. Good memories.
Phew… that wasn’t so bad! Funny, I didn’t want my son to look at my list, but I’m putting it out there to the four winds so everyone else who wants to can read it. What exactly does that say about me?
Thanks to everyone who reads and follows my posts, and for the encouraging comments. I have way more ideas than I have time for, but that’s okay. One step at a time. Reading other people’s writing keeps me inspired, and I wish I had more time for that as well. Here are some of the great blogs I’ve come across. I hope the links work, my apologies for any frustration if they don’t.
Just copy and paste the image at the top, write something about yourself, your likes and dislikes, or what inspires you for each letter of the alphabet. Then, pass the nomination along to some of your favourite blogs. 🙂
