A Song for Sunday–Shackles (Praise You)

A Song for Sunday–Shackles (Praise You)–Mary Mary

Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
I just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I’m gonna praise you
I’m gonna praise you

My shackles are not physical. My shackles are all in my mind, and they are as strong or as insignificant as I believe them to be. My challenge is to rise above my perceived limitations, because God has plans for me. I used to feel disconnected, unimportant, discouraged. In my head, I knew that God loves each of us, but in my heart I felt so lost, I believed that somehow I didn’t count. When I finally reached out to him, and fully surrendered my situation into his hands, my whole point of view changed. I am not any more special than anyone else, but at the same time, I am just as important as everyone else. Each one of us is here to fight our way through the struggles and build God’s kingdom the best we can. Each of us has a God-intended purpose for our life. I don’t claim to have mine figured out, but on the days when I catch glimpses of it, I am so excited and energized! I pray every day for the strength and the focus to do what God intends for me to do.

Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance
I just wanna praise you
I just wanna praise you
You broke the chains now I can lift my hands
And I’m gonna praise you
I’m gonna praise you

  1. It is truly amazing how God can change our perspective from our own to His if we seek Him. We see things from such a limited point of view and can get such tunnel vision, but our God sees the big picture and can help us to do the same. Be blessed and bless someone else today!
